SANGLI, June 9: Top seed Adish Serdesai of Sangli lived upto his ranking when he eased past second seed Niraj Puranik of Pune 8-1 to lift the boys under-8 title in the ongoing Bharati Krida Academy State Ranking Tennis Tournament at the Amrai Club courts here today.The six-and-a-half year local lad Adish did not allow his opponent much room to put up any fight, as he went on to hit winners from the start for a memorable title.
Meanwhile, in the boys under-12 section, Kolhapur's Mehul Kenia, top seeded, overcame some stiff challenge from Mumbai's Bhavik Shelarkar to win 9-8 (7-5) and enter the semi-finals. Pune's Hrishikesh Pataskar, Rohan Gidde and Mumbai's Kaishal Mahale are the others to join Mehul in the last four. However, Mehul's run in the under-14 section came to an abrupt halt at the quarter-final stage, when Pune's Hrishikesh Pataskar defeated him 9-5.
