Gold, silver prices up

MUMBAI: Silver and gold firmed up due to higher upcountry advices on the bullion market here Saturday. Silver raw spot (.916 fineness) rose by Rs 75 to Rs 7740 from Rs 7665. Silver ready spot (.999 fineness) shot up by Rs 35 each to Rs 7885. Standard gold firmed up further to Rs 4070 from Rs 4060 and 22-carat gold to Rs 3765 from Rs 3755. Ten-tola gold bar was quoted higher at Rs 47800.

BITS interim

MUMBAI: Bureau of Information Technology Services (BITS) has declared an interim dividend 10 per cent for current year. The company has clocked sales of Rs 18 crore for the 10-month period ended April 1999 against a sales turnover of Rs 8.89 crore for the year ended June 1998. The company has earned a gross profit of Rs 1.45 crore and a net profit of Rs 1.15 crore, enabling it to wipe off accumulated losses.

Samsung range

MUMBAI: Samsung Electronics has introduced a new range of flat monitors to be marketed under the brand name Dynaflat. The firm, which hasbeen supplying laser printers to OEMs, will also be marketing them for the first time under its own name in the country. For 1999, the firm has targeted a turnover Rs 500 crore, said James Jong, general manager. It is also planning to introduce cell phones in the Indian market later.

Nucleus software

MUMBAI: Banking and automation software company, Nucleus Software, has posted a net profit of Rs 80.17 lakh for the nine-month period ended March 1999. The company had posted a net loss of Rs 113.86 lakh in the same period of the previous year. The company's revenue has increased by 76 per cent and expenses have stayed at approximately the same level resulting in a 26 per cent spurt in the company's gross profit ratio.

MUMBAI: Expressindia.com, the Indian portal site, has entered into a tie-up with Karrox Technologies Limited, high-end computer education company, to offer weekend courses on internet evaluation methodologies and applications. The courses will be targeted atcorporate decision makers and held every Saturday at Net Express cybercafe, starting from July. Expressindia.com will also organise roadshows on cutting edge technologies with Karrox. The portal attract over 2.5 million hits a day.

SRG Infotec

MUMBAI: SRG Infotec Ltd has posted an allround improvement in its working for the third quarter ended April 1999. Income from operations has amounted to Rs 55.66 crore. The profit at gross level has shot up to Rs 8.84 crore and the net profit amounted to Rs 7.79 crore. The company will close its annual accounts in July every year.

Kunal Overseas

MUMBAI: Kunal Overseas Ltd, one of the 26 second star export houses in the country has drawn up plans for its entry into the manufacturing sector. To this effect, the company is implementing a Rs 10 crore project which will mark its foray into the pharmaceutical sector.

CyberTech sales

MUMBAI: Cybertech Systems & Software Ltd has recorded a 61 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 12.01 crore in1998-99 against Rs 7.45 crore last year. The turnover was 70.6 per cent higher at Rs 22.21 crore (Rs 13.02 crore). The board has recommended a dividend of 45 per cent (20 per cent).
