NAGPUR, JUNE 16: The Sadar police have launched a probe against a local institution, accused of cheating the Nagpur Zilla Parishad to the tune of over Rs 7.85 lakh by collecting bills for supplies of boiled eggs to ZP primary schools which were never effected in reality.Vitthal Narnaware, manager of the Suvidha Mahila Maagasvargiya Sanstha at Chhatrapati Chowk here, which had entered into a contract with the office of the ZP Education Officer (Primary) in February 1995 for supply of boiled eggs to ZP primary schools in the city, has been booked for the offence following a complaint by EO (Primary) C R Borkar.
The matter came to light during a routine audit when the authorities detected several discrepancies in the dealings of the Sanstha. Although the matter is in the initial stages, much is expected to come out with the progress of the police investigation. So far, no arrests have been reported. Sub-Inspector S R Parvekar of the Sadar police is investigating into the matter.
