Jaya let off in coal import case

CHENNAI: The TN Government immediately said it would appeal the trial judge's verdict, while the AIADMK supremo said her stand that corruption cases had been foisted against her had been vindicated. However, charges have been framed against nine other accused.

MIDNAPORE: CPI-M activists and Trinamool Congress supporters clashed violently today in Keshpur area in Midnapore district in which one person was killed, 100 others were injured, 25 of them seriously, and about 200 houses set ablaze prompting deployment of elite forces, police said.
