Pak woman held for overstaying

KOLHAPUR: The police have launched a manhunt for Sayyad Ahamad Desia, husband of a 33-year-old Pakistani national who was arrested on Monday for allegedly overstaying in India without valid documents.

``Once Sayyad Ahmed is traced, we will find out why they overstayed,'' Inspector General of Police (Special, Kolhapur Range) O P Bali told The Indian Express.

The police are constantly checking for foreign nationals overstaying after expiry of their visas, Bali said.

Baby Jahira Sayyad Ahamad Desia, a Pakistani national, was arrested from Bastwad in Shirol taluka for allegedly overstaying. Hailing from Karachi, she was staying with her husband and four children in Shirol for over two years, police said.
