Snag hits power supply in southern sectors

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, JUNE 16: The power supply in and around Sector 39 was affected severely today following a technical snag in 66 kv sub-station of the area.

Officials have claimed to have restored the power supply through an alternative arrangement soon after the problem was brought to their notice.

The worst affected were Sectors 40 to 44. The water supply, however, remained unaffected.

The officials told Newsline that the problem of interruption in power supply started at midnight yesterday and lasted for two hours. The load shedding was applied in Dadumajra and Maloya to save the system.

Meanwhile, residents of Shivalik Enclave, Manimajra and Mauli Jagran have resented erratic power supply to the area. They have complained about frequent tripping and have urged the authorities to improve the power supply to the area. "The power suddenly goes off 10 to 15 times a day. It's a great hurdle in the daily work," complained the residents.
