Bansi inaugurates 66-kv sub-station

Express News Service
Ambala, June 16: Inaugurating a 66-kv sub-station near Ambala, Chief Minister Bansi Lal today said that the government was putting in persistent efforts for providing round-the-clock power supply to the people in the state and this dream would be realised in a few days.

He disclosed that in Ambala district alone, the government had spent Rs 11.56 crore on setting up of new sub-stations and on augmentation of existing sub-stations during the past three years. Besides this, new transmission lines had also been laid at a cost of Rs 45 lakh in the district, he said.

He said that when people will have 24-hour power supply, they should become more aware that there should not be power theft by consumers. If any electricity employee tinkered with their power supply and bills in connivance with senior officers, strict action will be taken against every one, he said.

He said all developmental projects which had been initiated by his predecessors and left it incomplete had been taken up and were almost at the completing stage. The Rs 219-crore Hathni Kund Barrage project will start working on June 30. He said all drains and canals had been cleaned, enabling farmers to irrigate their more fields.

Ambala Central Co-op Bank Managing Director S.R. Hooda presented a cheque of Rs 51,000 to the Chief Minister for Kargil war widows' relief fund on behalf of the bank staff on this occasion.

Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Faqir Chand Aggarwal and Minister for Power and Public Relations Attar Singh Saini and Minister of State for Printing and Stationery Raj Kumar Saini were also present on this occasion.
