Jaywant Kawde, executive engineer of Public Works Department told The Indian Express that tenders for the ambitious project were invited till June 30 for the four-lane flyover. He said the 1.8 km flyover is expected to ease out traffic conditions at Hadapsar junction since it would cover the area from Mundhwa phata to Hadapsar phata.

According to Kawde, Hadapsar junction would have a total of ten lanes including four lanes of the flyover. This would drastically improve the traffic conditions. He said the vehicles going towards Solapur could either use the flyover or the three-lane road to the left of the flyover. Vehicles coming from Solapur and Saswad could use three-lane road or the flyover.

Kawde said MSRDC has initially proposed two flyovers - one at Mundhwa phata and another at Saswad phata. However, the proposal was changed because of suggestions by the elected representatives. The municipal corporation has agreed to hand over a 32-metre stretch for the construction.

Kawde said the tenders for Aundh flyover would be invited in July which would be followed by the flyover at Seven Loves chowk on Shankarsheth road.

Residents plan stir over fence
Residents of Kondhwa Budruk near the Kondhwa Katraj link road have now decided to opt for a rasta roko as a fence which cut their shortest route to the main road, was demolished by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) but allegedly rebuilt immediately.

Their distance to the main road is barely 200 yards But the 300-odd residents of Kondhwa Budhruk, who have purchased plots near the Kondhwa Katraj link road have to take a detour of over one-and-a-half kilometre trudging along a kuccha path as the road was allegedly fenced off by a local builder. The PMC demolished the fence on Tuesday evening, but it was erected again within a few hours by the builder, residents alleged. The residents plan to sit on the roads on June 17 in protest. The residents have appealed to the commissioner to look into the matter.
