PUNE, JUNE 16: Former Municipal Commissioner Arun Bhatia has urged Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Suresh Kalmadi to remove those corporators who were allegedly involved in assaulting and abusing him in the corridor of the PMC building after the no-confidence motion was passed against him.Reacting to Kalmadi's statement strongly disapproving the corporators' behaviour, Bhatia, in a press statement has said they not only assaulted and abused him but also spat on him after he left the general body meeting.
Bhatia said he had already filed a complaint against these corporators. He said it showed how corporators terrorise individuals and get away with it.He maintained that the corporators had insulted the refined culture of Pune.
He demanded that Kalmadi should remove them if he cared for the dignity and reputation of the city. It will also show that Kalmadi is against the `terrorism' of the corporators, he said.
Meanwhile, the Republican Party of India has objected to the standing committee's decision to reject Bhatia's proposal of reallocating the funds for slum development.
