NEW DELHI, JUNE 16: A 17-year-old girl, who had come to Delhi for her holidays, jumped off the twelfth floor of the DDA Vikas Minar building today. A suicide note was found absolving all persons of blame, and attributing her action to boredom with life.Shalini Singh, a student of Class XII in Aligarh Muslim University, came to the Capital three days ago to visit her uncle's family in Mandawli. Today she went sightseeing with her cousin, Harish, who was about the same age as her. They went to the zoo and the Red Fort.
They were near the DDA building at ITO when Harish decided to have a paan. Shalini told him that she would make a call to her parents in Agra and crossed the street. That was the last he saw of her.
At around 3 p.m., Harish saw a crowd gathered near Vikas Minar, which is one of the tallest buildings in the area. He went closer and saw his cousin's body lying in a pool of blood. A suicide note in Hindi was found in her pocket. She stated that she was bored with her life. According to the police, the note was written on used paper from the DDA building.A traffic constable in the area recalled seeing Shalini sitting in the window of the 12th floor.
