Point 5140 taken, Army attains higher ground
After three weeks of fierce fighting, last night Indian troops finally captured the crucial Point 5140, which overlooks the Leh-Srinagar highway, the Army announced today.

G-8 doesn't name Pak but says intrusion irresponsible
India's diplomatic blitz in recent weeks seemed to have borne fruit today, when the Group of Eight nations vindicated New Delhi's position on the violation of the Line of Control, describing the armed intrusion there as "irresponsible'' and calling for the "restoration'' of the LoC.

Now, all eyes on Batalik
With the recapture of Point 5140 and the clearing of Tuloling, the focus of operations is gradually shifting to the Batalik-Yaldor sector. The Army, keen to extend its success in this region, has started preparations to this end.
