It's not just software and the R&D departments of pharma firms that are taking special care to quantify and nurture their intellectual capital. The best example of this is India's top corporate Reliance's new annual feature: The Intellectual Capital Report. An effort to quantify its intangible assets where, ultimately, growth must come from.Reliance, the report tells us, is a relatively young organisation with an average employee age of 36 years. The average revenue per employee has jumped to an incredible Rs 77 lakh in 1997-98 from just Rs 54 lakh the year before. Only problem is that while putting together this tribute to its employees' genius, Reliance's committed a major gaffe: `` ... while wisdom comes from the top ...'', says the report!Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
