Delhi Vidyut Board puts out schedule for power cuts

NEW DELHI, JUNE 20: Due to a sudden fall in the voltage supply in the Northern Grid, Delhi Vidyut Board has issued a load-shedding schedule. In a meeting of the deputy commissioners with Chief Secretary Omesh Saigal and representatives of the Delhi Jal Board and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi recently, the power situation in the Capital was thoroughly reviewed.

Some cinema halls and hotels in the city have agreed to comply with the order related to the use of their own standby arrangements for electricity. The Delhi Vidyut Board, in a statement, has said that the Summer Action Plan -- 1999 launched by the Delhi government in May this year has evoked good response.

According to the DVB, great numbers of people have agreed to comply with the government's and the board's requests.

Three cinema houses Radhu Place, Chand and Gagan falling in the east district have agreed to use Diesel Generator sets from 12 noon to 4 pm and 7 pm to 11 pm every day.

Hotel Taj Mahal has informed the government in writing that that they have noted the concern expressed by the government. Due to the sudden fall in voltage in northern grid they have decided to use their own standby arrangement from June 12, between 12 noon and 9 pm.

Saigal, expressing satisfaction over these arrangements, said that this was a temporary measure and that these orders would be withdrawn as soon as the voltage position is stabilised in the grid.
