NEW DELHI, JUNE 20: Workers of the Central Warehousing Corporation and the Hardwar plant of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) have donated their one day's salary to the national defence fund. The fund was set up to provide relief to Army personnel engaged in evicting Pakistan-backed intruders. The employees' unions of the two organisations, while lauding the efforts of armed forces in Operation Vijay, said the nation was behind them and wished for their success in the operation. Over 1,100 employees of BHEL's Hardwar plant are writing letters to the Armymen to express their gratefulness and solidarity, a BHEL release said here yesterday.
``One of the employees, who preferred anonymity, has written `Jai Hind' in blood as a mark of respect and solidarity with the jawans fighting at the Front,'' it said.
All India trade Union Congress (AITUC) has also called on workers's unions associated with it to donate liberally to the fund.
