Ramrao Adik flays Pawar's NCP move
Kolhapur: Senior Congress leader Ramrao Adik on Saturday criticised the step taking by Sharad Pawar in leaving the Congress and floating his own Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and called it ``a political suicide.''

Talking informally to reporters here on Saturday night, the former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra charged Pawar of being selfish and over ambitious and said that his precise reason to launch the NCP was to take out frustration after the failure to fructify his personal ambition.

``He (Pawar) was never a reliable national leader and the NCP is also not a national level, not even a Maharashtra level political party, as its strength is limited only to western Maharashtra,'' he claimed.

Pawar was re-addmitted to the Congress due to late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and during the last eight years, he had never talked about Congress president Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin, Adik said. Pawar failed to be a prime ministerial candidate for the party and even the MPCC chief and hence he should realise his limitations, Adik pointed out.

Formation of the NCP would not not have any adverse effect on the bright prospects of the Congress in winning the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, he said and claimed that the Congress party would be in majority at the national level and come to power.
