PGDM alumni lodge complaint
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, June 20: Some members of the Post Graduate Diploma Management (PGDM) alumni association of the Faculty of Commerce have alleged that their seniors are forcing them to shell out money for the alumni welfare fund. In a written complaint to the Faculty Dean, the alumni members claimed that Rs 1,000 was being demanded from each of them, which they did not wish to pay. A section of senior professors have reportedly urged the Dean to ascertain whether the association is registered with the faculty. A professor said, ``For an association to be considered as registered it has to seek the dean's permission and give details of the activities which would be carried out.''Dean J.K. Syan said he was unaware of any such association, but added that since the course is three years old, it is possible that his predecessor may have granted permission. He confirmed having received complaints about the association. However, a senior member of the alumni association, Naval Bajaj, denies the allegations stating, ``The amount asked from the students was Rs 500 and not Rs 1,000.'' He said no force was being used on anyone to pay the money. He claimed the association had been registered with the former dean, and the activities had also been specified.
