Phone bills on June 28
The Surat telecom department has announced that telephone bills dated June 11 will be issued on June 28 with rental adjustments after taking into account the revised tariff that became effective from May 1. The telephone PRO said the delay was due to software modifications. Telephone bills are issued every month on the 11th and 18th days of odd and even months respectively for urban subscribers, and the 18th of every month for rural subscribers.

Selected
The Central government has selected Dr Syedna Mohmmed Burhanuddin's eldest son Kaid Joharbhai Izuddin as a member of the Haj Committee. The Dawoodi Bohara community of Surat has congratulated Joharabhai, who's actively involved in community works all over the world, on the selection.

Langur caught
Vadodara:
Activists of the Gujarat Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals caught an adult male langur that had been creating terror in and around Gotri and had bitten at least two dozen people over the past few days. Activist Snehal Bhatt said of Sunday evening's catch at Brahmbhatt Falia, ``Bharat Mali, Rupesh Monto and I lured the animal into a cage with mirrors and bananas. It will be handed over to the forest department for releasing into the notified forest area on Monday.''

Pension adalat
The Department of Posts will organise a Pension Adalat here on July 9 for postal pensioners. According to an official spokesman, grievances, if any, could be sent in writing to accounts officer I G Vohra at the Postmaster-General, Vadodara Region office, Vadodara 390002, by June 28.

Workshop
The Vadodara District Primary Education Committee, District Institute of Training and Shishu Milap will organise a six-day-long training workshop for teachers from Monday at Shroff Foundation Trust Health Centre, Kalali.

Lecture
Dr V R Joshi, eminent rheumatologist from Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai, delivered the Lt-Col Dr V R Vasavada oration lecture on Sunday The programme was organised by the Vadodara branch of the Indian Medical Assocaition.

Appointed
N S Mishra has been appointed the General Manager (Operations and Services) at the Bank of Baroda head office in Vadodara. Mishra, a qualified banker, has worked in various capacities at the BoB, including at the international division in Mumbai and as Chief Executive (European Operations) at London.

Art of Living
A six-day course on the `Art of Living', organised by the Vyakti Vikas Kendra, begins on June 22. Those interested should contact Jyotsana Sheth on 339936 or Asha Desai on 338043.
