PATIALA, June 20: Fine batting by Reetinder Sodhi (72) and Gaganinder Garry (31) helped hosts Patiala register a five-wicket win over Chandigarh in the one-day match of the Punjab Inter-District Hot Weather Cricket Tournament for the Katoch Shield at Dhruve Pandove Cricket Stadium here today.The Chandigarh lads, batting first scored a handsome total of 272 runs for nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Harwinder Kaku and Dinesh Mongia scored 72 and 65, respectively. Amit Unial also made 47 not out runs to further strengthen the total of Chandigarh. Patiala's Ranejev Sharma bowled superably and took four Chandigarh wickets for 45 runs and Amit Kakria also provided due support by taking two wickets for 42 runs.
Rain interupted the play during Patiala's innings. The umpires reduced the match to 25 overs and the Patiala's target was 137 runs. Reetinder Sodhi and Gaganinder Garry batted with confidence and scored 72 and 31 runs respectively.
Yuvraj Singh took three Patiala wickets for 29 runs but Patiala surpassed the target by scoring 142 for five in 25 overs.
