EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
Three held for drinking at public place
The city police have arrested three persons for allegedly drinking at a public place. Bansi, Bala (both residents of Panchkula) and Sham Lal were arrested from Mauli Jagran. A case under Excise Act has been registered.

3 sustain burns in stove burst
Three members of a family were admitted to the PGI with burn injuries sustained when a stove burst at their residence. The injured are Madhu, Ashwini Kumar and Sangeeta, all residents of Sector 38-A.

Three arrested for gambling
Three persons have been arrested from the Transport Area here allegedly for gambling. Sunder Singh of Shimla, Hans Raj from Aligarh and Santosh Kumar of Sultanpur were arrested under the Gambling Act.

Sec 55 resident consumes poison
A sector 55 resident Manjar Hussain has been admitted to the hospital after he reportedly consumed a poisonous substance at his residence.

19 liquor bottles recovered
The Panchkula police have registered a case under the Excise Act against Ashok Kumar, a resident of Raipur Rani from whose residence 19 bottles of liquor were recovered. The accused managed to flee from the spot.

One booked for rash driving
One Surjit Singh was booked for rash driving and causing grievous injury to a cyclist, Hari Singh. The case was registered in Phase I police station of SAS Nagar. According to police officials Surjit Singh, who was driving a Maruti car, first hit the cyclist Hari Singh and then, collided with the transformer pole near Madanpura Chowk.

House burgled
Some pairs of trousers and Rs 400 in cash were stolen from a house in Sector 15 when all the occupants were asleep. The police have registered a theft case.
