VADODARA, June 21: Two policemen of Kathala outpost in Dahod district have been booked on charges of threatening and looting cash, a wrist watch, a gold ring and a chain together valued at Rs 11,000 from a jeep driver at Khangla checkpost on the Gujarat-Madhya Pradesh border recently.According to the police, jeep driver Yogendrasinh Mahendrasinh Rathod, a resident of Kunda village in Jhabua district, was on his way to Dahod when he was signalled to stop at Khangala border by the two.
He complained that the two policemen demanded the vehicle papers. Though they were shown the papers, they still beat up the jeep's occupants and snatched Rs 1500 and the valuables from him.
According to the complainant, the two also threatened to eliminate them if any complaint was lodged. According to Dahod police, the incident occurred on June 13 but the complaint was lodged only on June 20. A case under Sections 341, 342 and 394, 504, and 506(2) pertaining to loot and issuing threat has been registered against the policemen.
District Superintendent of Police, Dahod, K L N Rao, when contacted, said that investigations aware on and action would be taken against the policemen if they were found guilty. No one has however been arrested.
