KRC annex Sub-Junior title

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
PANCHKULA, June 21: Kumaon Regiment Centre, Kumaon, secured 29 points to win the title in the sub-junior category in the 11th senior and second sub-junior boxing championship which concluded at the yavanika theater here today.

Haryana also had 29 points but were relegated to second spot as the team had five gold medal as compared to six won by KRC. Uttar Pradesh took the third spot with 20 points. The team bagged five gold medals.

In the senior division, two out of 12 contests were decided on knock-out basis. In the bantam weight Atul Siddharth of Rajasthan send Ashok Kumar of Haryana (B) on the canvas in the second round. However, Sanjeev Kumar (Chandigarh) took just 60 seconds to win the title in the light welter weight category from Tara Chand of Haryana (A).

Sanjeev dominated the encounter from the word go, and forced the referee to count half way through the first round.
