Chandigarh, June 22: A delegation of the Confederation of the Librarians' Associations of North India (COLNI) met Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof M. M. Puri and urged him to organise refresher and orientation courses for the working librarians of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.The COLNI representatives also demanded that Library Science be introduced as a subject at the undergraduate level in the university affiliated colleges, a press release issued by confederation secretary general I. B. Verma said. The delegation members sought that the courses be held at the PU Academic Staff College.
Verma stated in the release that the librarians working in the colleges and universities in the region were required to undergo two refresher or orientation courses before December 2000 and that time was running out.
