Cops in ISI case move to Mumbai
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, JUNE 22: The police team investigating the ISI agent case will be moving to Mumbai soon to coordinate further investigations with their counterparts there. Desai's confessions to the Pune police had led to the arrest of four more suspected ISI agents in Mumbai. According to police officials some of the accused arrested in Pune had also gone to Delhi and met some of the ISI operatives. So far, the investigations have revealed that the accused had been paid large sums of money for passing on information related to defence matters. However, the quality of the information passed on through the operating network is yet to be ascertained, sources revealed.Sayyad Ahmed Mohammad Desai who had managed to involve four others to lay down a local network to glean intelligence and further pass them on to the ISI, had however failed to strike the target. The arrest of five agents in Pune is being seen as a major breakthrough which might expose a much wider network seeking to collect intelligence pertaining to defence establishments in the country, sources said.
