Narain zooms to third place in Formula 3

CHENNAI: India's 23-year-old motor racing prodigy has secured the third place in the overall standings in the FIA British Formula Three championship by emerging the victor in the seventh round at Brandshatch, England. Narain thus qualified to compete in the prestigious FI support race at Silverstone, moving a step closer to realising his ambition of being the first Indian Formula 1 driver.

Sachin unhappy

MUMBAI: Sachin Tendulkar, who arrived from London today, along with Mumbai team-mate Ajit Agarkar, said he was extremely dissapointed, like the rest of India, that the team could not make the semi-finals of the World Cup. Tendulkar, looking tired after the long journey, was reluctant to talk, but was candid in assessing his own performance, ``I am not angry with myself, but dissapointed with my form.'' Sachin aggregated 253 runs for an average of 42.16 in seven innings.

Tanna ousted

NEW DELHI: Third seed in the boys under-14section, Krishne Tanna was ousted by Rishi Behl 6-3, 6-4 in the Adidas Junior Masters Tennis Tournament at DLTA grounds. The other seeds to fall were fifth-seeded Saurabh Kohli (boys U-14), Deepa Chakravarthy, seventh seed Krushmi Chadda and eighth seed Nivedita Venkatesh (girls U-14).

PSCB favoured

GANDHIDHAM: Petroleum Sports Control Board (PSCB) appear set to completely dominate both in men's and women's sections at the KPT 29th All India Inter-Institutional Table Tennis Championships which begins at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Auditorium, here from Wednesday.

Nikita triumphs

PUNE: Top seeds Nishad Dravid of Dhulia and Nikita Hurkadli of Mumbai Suburb entered the second round in the sub-junior boys and girls respectively in the junior State Ranking Badminton Championship here today. Seeded shuttlers Ajit Pathak (Pune), Sagar Chopra (Mumbai Sub), Pranav Khot (Pune), Aditya Chitre (Pune), Akshay Thakkar (Thane) and Abhishek Bhide (Mumbai Sub) all entered the second round in thesub-junior boys' singles.
