Uniform taxes for states -- FM

AHMEDABAD, JUNE 27: The central government has written to the states to formulate uniform tax structure with a view to avoiding competition, Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha said on Sunday.

Launching the ``Gujarat Infrastructure Agenda:Vision-2010'', Sinha said a committee headed by West Bengal chief minister Jyoti Basu was studying tax structure in different states. He said Gross National Product (GNP) in the current fiscal would be seven per cent as against six per cent last year.
