MUMBAI, JUNE 27: Additiaonl Chief Metropolitan Magistrate A A A Kidwai today rejected the bail application of 21 accused including a noted criminal lawyer Haider Pathan and remanded them to a police custody till July 9.The accused were allegedly involved in the murder of an old man at Jamil Masjid in Madanpura area on Saturday.Advocate Ashok Patil, Nusrat Shah, Aftab Qureshi, who appeared on behalf of the accused contended that the accused were picked up from the office of Anjuman Mufidulyatama office at 2.30 pm and further claimed that they were not involved in the crime.
Defence advocate claimed that some persons used to invite devotees from outside the locality to the mosque and they occupied the mosque during night which was objected by another set of devotees.
Three prime accused Mohhamad Raza Ansari, Shafiq Alam and Mohammad Harun have complained to the magistrate about the ill-treatment given by the local police. The trio was called by the magistrate in witness box and they have shown the markon their body. The magistrate granted permission for the accused to be given home food and home cloth.
