NIFD ropes in Shweta Menon

Ambala, June 27: Model-actress Shweta Menon will be the chief attraction at the annual garment show tomorrow, featuring creations of the students from the local centre of the National Institute of Fashion Design (NIFD), here.

Shweta, who addressed a press conference at the NIFD here this afternoon stated that the show would be dedicated to the Army personnel fighting in Kargil, adding that half of the proceeds from the auction of garments exhibited at the show would go to Kargil victims.

Sudhir Windlas, Head of the Ambala Centre, announced at the press conference that the NIFD Corporate has decided to extend free training to wards of Kargil martyrs, while the wards of those soldiers who are currently fighting in Kargil would be given a 50 per cent waiver on fees for all courses at all of the 75 NIFD centres all over the country. He added that the company would contribute Rs 200 from the fee of each student collected at the corporate centre towards the Army Central Welfare Fund.

The show is being choreographed by Chandigarh-based model-turned-choreographer Priyanka Singh. Some of the other prominent models who will be a part of the show are Joey Mathews, Aanchal Gulati, Bhavna Sharma and Deepika Uppal. The show is being coordinated by Jeet Brar from Chandigarh.
