PUNE, JUNE 27: BJP and Shiv Sena are expected to declare their joint opinion on holding simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly by July 5 or 6, according to Information and Broadcasting Minister Pramod Mahajan.Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a studio of Doordarshan centre here today, Mahajan said, ``At the moment, we are talking to our party workers. We will form a final opinion after seeking guidance from top party leaders in New Delhi and then hold talks with Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackerary.''``All this process is expected to be complete by July 5,'' Mahajan said.
``For holding both the elections together, the Maharashtra Assembly needs to be dissolved. That we will do only if we find that holding Assembly election with the Lok Sabha election will give us political advantage,'' Mahajan added.
He said that the BJP was not going to have any tie-up with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) of Sharad Pawar. ``A split in Congress has made our sure victorymore sure (sic),'' he added.
``In some Lok Sabha segments, our fight will be with Congress. In some parts, it will be with NCP. But I don't think at the moment the NCP will be able to cross (a) double digit figure in the Lok Sabha polls,'' Mahajan said.
Asked about the future of NCP outside the State, he said, ``I don't see NCP outside Maharashtra apart from Purno Sangma.''
