The note says although several civic officers have been provided with either mobile phones or pagers, most of the time, they cannot be contacted.

The problem is experienced particularly by corporators and other elected office-bearers. Mobile phones are either engaged for long periods or the concerned official cannot be contacted. Most of the time, there is no response to pager messages, said Nagrale.

The PCMC has provided over 150 pagers and nearly 30 mobile phones.

The commissioner has asked all the officers to undertake urgent repairs to communication gadgets that do not work, and submit a report to his office, he added. He warned that the concerned officer may face strict action if the problem persisted.

The commissioner hasalso warned that mobile phones and other communication facilities not be used for personal purposes.
