Chandigarh, June 29: The National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT) has decided to introduce a new web-based curriculum in the city, following its launch in metros last week, courses for which will begin in August.This was announced by Madhulika Tripathi, North India Operations Head, NIIT, at a press conference, here yesterday.
Tripathi added that the new course will not be a walk-in programme, but admissions would be based on an entrance test, to be held in July.
Pratap Aggarwal, Director of the Delta Information Services, which manages NIIT centres in Chandigarh, Solan and Shimla, stated that the process of upgrading the present set of courses to the new curriculum would take up eight months. He added that the new curriculum would be available at one centre in Chandigarh by August.
Madhulika Tripathi pointed out that the new curicuclum would introducing the Linux operating system in computer education in the country and on-line classroom teaching.
