Programmes in aid of Kargil martyrs

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, June 29: The wave of patriotism sweeping the country following the Kargil crisis is affecting Vadodara as well. Various city-based voluntary organisations have joined hands to make people aware of their responsibility towards the jawans who are fighting a grim battle against the Pakistan-backed intruders.

The organisations, Jan Jagruti Abhiyan, Friends of Nature, Nagrik Raktadan Samiti, and Nagrik Forum on Tuesday announced a 12-point programme in this regard at a press conference which was addressed jointly by representatives of these organisations, besides corporation officials and trade association representatives.

They disclosed that as part of the programme, the organisations would hold blood donation camps, a painting show, a drama competition, debate competition and charity show, the proceeds from which would go to the family members of jawans killed or injured in Kargil.

The first blood donation camp will be held at Swaminarayan Temple at Vadi on July 4 and will be followed by camps at Nagrik Raktadan Samiti, Blood bank, SSG Hospital on July 6 and Freemasons, Productivity road, on July 11. On July 17, a musical concert will be held at the Town hall.
