PCMC to donate Rs 51 lakh for Kargil soldiers' families

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
PUNE, JUNE 29: The standing committee of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) today approved a resolution to donate Rs 51 lakh to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for providing financial assistance to the families of the soldiers who died in Kargil.

The donation would be given after the State Government formally approves the PCMC resolution.

The committee mourned the death of the Indian soldiers fighting the Pakistani militants in Kargil. Meanwhile, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Citizens' Action Committee presided by Mayor Madhukar Pawle will be conducting a rally on July 1 in Pimpri-Chinchwad to collect funds for the disabled soldiers.

The rally will be held at Nigdi chowk (9 a.m.), Akurdi chowk (9.30 a.m.), Chapekar chowk (10 a.m.), Dange chowk Thergaon (10.30 a.m.), Kalewadi phata (11 a.m.), Kalewadi chowk (11.30 a.m.), Pimprigaon (noon), Shagun chowk Pimpri (12.30 p.m.), Nehrunagar (1 p.m.), Bhosari chowk (1.30 p.m.), Kasarwadi (2 p.m.), and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar chowk, Pimpri (2.30 p.m). All the corporators have been asked to collect donations from their respective wards.
