Etambe, Parimi top-seededNagsen Etambe and Parimi Nirmala have been given the pride of place in the open and women's singles, respectively, of the Kshatriya Union Club Open District Ranking carrom tournament, jointly sponsored by Union Bank, Saraswat Co-operative Bank, Colgate Palmolive, Indian Oil, Philips and LIC, which will be held at the Vanmali Hall, Dadar, from July 30.
Open singles (608 entries): 1 Nagsen Etambe, 2 Mahendra Tambe, 3 Narsingrao Sakari, 4 Chakor Salve.
Women's singles (56 entries): 1 Parimi Nirmala, 2 Anupama Kedar, 3 Monaz Tanttra, 4 Sangeeta Chandorkar.
Sub-junior boys singles (32 entries): 1 Pankaj Pawar, 2 Deepak Gohil, 3 Roshan Kajrolkar, 4 Nitin Kompelli.
Kanga League meeting
A get- together of all affiliated clubs, secretaries, captains, those who are taking part in the Kanga Cricket League and officiating umpires, will be held on Friday, July 2 at the Wankhede Stadium at 6.15 p.m. to discuss their problems regarding theleague.
Entrant's chess tourney
The Bombay Chess Association will conduct the Entrant's Division tournament at the Zandu Pharmaceutical Works Canteen, Sayani Road, Prabhadevi from July 9. The event is open for all without age bar. Ten percent of the participants will be promoted to the Senior Division on permanent basis.
The entry fee is Rs 65 and will be accepted at the Zandu Canteen on or before July 7, only between 6.00 p.m. and 9.00 p.m. except on Saturdays and Sundays. For details contact DB Pulekar Tel 5130943.
Jindal Cup squash
The Professional Squash Association will conduct a handicap team event for the Jindal Cup under the auspices of the Squash Rackets Association of Maharashtra from July 3 to 4.
