Suicide case changed to murder
The Sachin police today re-registered a suicide as murder in a case where the dead body of a school teacher was found hanging from the ceiling of his house at Un village on the city's outskirts on Tuesday evening. Post mortem and forensic tests carried out on the body revealed that Mansukh Bhana Solanki had been fisted repeatedly on the chest and face by an unidentified person, who then tied him to the roof in a bid to mislead the police and family members. Baldev Bhana Solanki, Mansukh's brother, later lodged a police complaint.

Diamond theft
Polished diamonds worth 2.40 lakhs were stolen from a diamonds workshop in Pandol Shopping Centre, Ved Road. Mansukh Patel, the workshop owner, lodged a complaint on Wednesday in the Chowk Bazaar police station stating that unidentified persons had opened the workshop door during the night and decamped with the diamonds. A case under sections 454 and 380 has been registered.

Burns death
Sarla Gokul Trimbak (26), a married woman residing at Santoshinagar slum of Limbayat died in the New Civil Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. She was being treated at the hospital since the evening of June 25, when she received burns while making tea. The police have registered a case of accidental death under section 174 of the CrPC.

Electrocuted
Narendra Panjivan Jariwala (25) of the Sanghadiawaad area of Gopipura died on admission to the Surat General Hospital. Jariwala was rushed there after receiving an electric shock in his house at noon on Wednesday. An electrical short circuit is said to be responsible for the shock. The Athwalines police have registered a case.
