PUNE, June 30: The Shiv Sena and other organisations today presented a memorandum to the Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) demanding immediate action against Shewale Towers.A delegation called on Cantonment Executive Officer Ajay Kumar demanded that the top two floors of Shewale Towers be seized and sealed. They have also written to the commandants of Central Armoured Fleet Vehicle Depot (CAFVD), Khadki and 512 Base Workshop asking them whether there were any rules that prevented buildings coming up near sensitive defence establishments.
Meanwhile, Vikram Rathod, former vice-president of KCB, has faxed a letter to Defence Minister George Fernandes urging him to take immediate steps to ensure security of the Ammunition Factory. Rathod has suggested that the owner of Shewale Towers submit a list of tenants living on fourth and fifth of the building for security reasons.
