MUMBAI, JUNE 30: Chhagan Bhujbal, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, declared that the Shiv Sena-BJP Government would have no authority or right to issue directives and promulgate ordinances if the parties wanted the State Assembly dissolved next week as per some reports stated on Wednesday. "They are afraid of holding the monsoon session of the State Legislature, that's why the recommendation for an early dissolution," he said.
However, Legislators have already received the mandatory pre-session communique from the Governor asking them to be present on July 19, Bhujbal said. "We have always been saying that the General and Assembly elections should be held simultaneously but that's no reason to escape the session," he added.
PTI adds: The NCP said that it was ready for simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in the event of dissolution of Maharashtra Assembly.
"Our party is ready for simultaneous polls," NCP general secretary Devendra Nath Dwivedi told reporters.
