SAIL posts 18 pc sales growth

NEW DELHI, JULY 1: The Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has recorded an 18 per cent growth in sales during the first quarter of 1999-2000 over the corresponding period last year."SAIL marketed over two million tonnes of saleable steel in the domestic as well as international market during April-June 1999 recording a growth of 18 per cent over the corresponding period last fiscal," a SAIL statement said.The domestic sales increased by about 15 per cent to 1.9 million tonnes, 2.5 lakh tonnes more than that in the same period in 1998-99.
