PATNA, JULY 1: Major Bihar rivers were in spate with some of them flowing above danger level at a few places even as hundreds of people continued to be affected in more than 150 villages in north Bihar following heavy rains and breach in embankments.An official report received from Darbhanga said over seventy villages were inundated when angry villagers damaged a portion of the embankment of river Kamala Balan near Jamalpur in Darbhanga last night.
Steps were being taken to repair the embankment, the report said.
Nearly 70 villages were affected by flash floods with breach in embankment of Lakhandei river at a few places today in Muzaffarpur, official sources said.
Swirling waters overtopped the national highway at Kathujha snapping road communication between Sitamarhi and Muzaffarpur since this morning, the sources said.
A Sitamarhi report quoting official sources said over 25 villages were affected by floods in the district following rise in water level of Bagmati and Adhwara group ofrivers.
According to Central Water Commission control room here, major rivers like Bagmati and Adhwara group of rivers were rising menacingly at different places and even crossed the danger level at a few places along their course.
