Distribution of trees

Friends of the Trees along with Rotary Club of Bombay Seacoast and Godrej Tree Bunk will distribute a variety of trees on Sunday, July 4 at Sushma, Linking Road Extension (opposite the mosque), Santacruz (west). Major Gen E D'Souza, PVSM, will formally inaugurate `Vanmahotsav-99'. The trees for distribution this season are Asupala, Deshi Badam, Flowering Ashoka (Saraca indica), Putrajiva, Peltoforum, Gulmohar, Raintree, Keronj, Indian Laburner, Casuarina, Yellow Cassio, Lagerstroemio, Bakul, Cannonball, Supari, Bauhinio alba etc.

Citizens are requested to plant trees in memory of Indian soldiers who have died in the Kargil conflict. For further details, contact Dr Ashok S Kothari (6494535), Roshanaro and Dr Amir Ali Mookhi (6127703) or Mr Ratnesh Desai (6140546).

Bank of Punjab mobilises funds

The Bank of Punjab will mobilise contributions from citizens for the Army Central Welfare Fund for the families of affected soldiers in the Kargil conflict through its networkof 50 branches across India in UP, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Chandigarh.

According to a press release, Rejbir Singh, the bank's executive director, said all branches would be collecting funds in the form of cheques or demand drafts payorder without service charges. The money will be transferred to the Army's fund in Delhi.

Camps for study methods

The Eklavya Sawadhayamala has organised a series of free guidance camps related to study methods for both guardians and their wards. The camps will be held at Dadar, Thane and Dombivli from July 1 to 11. The camps are free and open to all. Orientation for success

A life-enhancing course titled `success orientation' through self-image psychology to tackle problems in academics, business, health etc will be held from July 2. Only individual sessions will be conducted by Biju Kumar at Borivli. For further details, call on8053397/8923689.
