GPCC inducts 11 more in unit panel

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, July 1: The discontent among a section of city Congressmen has seemingly died down with the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) having inducted a few new members as office-bearers and in the executive committee.

The announcement of the new office-bearers a few months ago had sparked off a row with several city unit members complaining to the high command, including Madhavrao Scindia, that the minorities and youth have not been given adequate representation in the committee.

This had led even the State party chief C D Patel to give a patient hearing to the workers and in a brief interview to the Express Newsline during tribal convention here some time back, he had admitted that some names have been left out and that there was discontent among a section of the party workers.

He had assured that soon the problem would be sorted out. The problem had also arisen due to some posts of office-bearers having been scrapped.

In the revised list announced recently, the party has added 11 persons as office-bearers. The prominent among those include Mohammed Vohra, Manoj Thakore and Yogesh Bhatt. Some of the partymen had alleged that Bhatt was sidelined despite working hard in the Lok Sabha elections. Yogin Amin and Ashwin Thakore, who had defected earlier from the Rashtriya Janata Party (RJP) to the Congress have also found place.

Three new names have been also added in the list of office-bearers of the District unit.
