Panel clears projects worth Rs 66.53 lakh

RAJKOT, July 1: The six members of the committee, who completed their two-year term today, cleared works worth Rs 66.53 lakh.

The members who retire include the chairman Dhansukh Bhandhari, Mahendra Sampat, Manubhai Rathod, Ushaben Sutaria, Vinubhai Talpada and the lone opposition member in the committee Ladhabhai Patel.

The Standing Committee will remain suspended for a few days till the new members are elected at the Rajkot Municipal General Board meeting which is proposed to be held on July 9.

Works cleared in the meeting include drainage works of Rs 30.44 lakhs, relaying of roads at a cost of Rs 7.43 lakh, waterworks of Rs 15,000.

The Standing Committee cleared the proposal to form a committee of nine members to look into the building of 1,000 houses for urban poor. The Mayor, Municipal Commissioner and Standing Committee chairman will be on the committee.The committee also cleared the decision to install fixed plastic chairs in the newly build indoor stadium at a cost of Rs 5.92 lakhs. Its floor will be laid at a cost of Rs 20 69 lakh. The RMC is also planning to buy a video camera to cover various functions organised by it.

The RMC will earn Rs 175.11 lakhs from sale of the shops in the shoping centre build in ward number 7 on Arvindbhai Maniyar Road.
