CHANDIGARH, July 1: Gurdas Mann will perform in the city on July 4 in honour of the Kargil war heroes. The show, to be held at Tagore Theatre, has been organised by Strides Charitable Trust.According to trust spokespersons, Bittu Sandhu and Ritu Jhingon, Mann will sing "songs which depict not just the heroism and valour of the soldiers, but also the sacrifice and suffering of their families; it will be Gurdas Mann at his melancholy best." They said the programme is intended to express solidarity with the soldiers who are fighting the enemy in treacherous terrain in the Kargil-Drass Sector of J&K and to create public awareness regarding the plight of the defence services.
Punjab Governor Lt Gen B.K.N. Chhibber (retd) will be the guest of honour and among the audience will be many war-decorated soldiers; the trust will contribute to the families of the martyrs.
