BANGALORE, JULY 1: Two of the most eligible bachelors of Karnataka -- Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath -- entered into wedlock at separate, private functions in Bangalore today.
While there were a only a few chosen guests for the marriage at Kumble's wedding at Prestige Apartments held early in the day, more than 400 distinguished guests thronged Le Meridien where the reception was held.
The charming couple -- Chetana and Anil -- played perfect hosts, taking their time to talk to the guests. Anil even signed autographs on stage even as his blushing wife looked on. Chetana, according to family sources, is 27 and holds a Masters degree. Obviously Srinath was missing at the reception. However, his team mates Rahul Dravid, Sunil Joshi, the state Ranji brigade, journalists, KSCA Secretary Brijesh Patel and a host of dignataries showered their blessings on the couple.
Those conspicuous by their absence were Sachin Tendulkar and Ajay Jadeja, who everybody hoped would fly down.
The photographers who had missedout on the action in the morning were promised by Kumble he would oblige them. The wedding which took place in the morning was a family affair. Only a few cricketers -- Sunil Joshi and his wife Ravneet, Venkatesh Prasad and his wife Jayanti, Rahul Dravid, the to-be-wed-shortly Dodda Ganesh, two of Kumble's Sri Lankan friends (not cricketers) -- were the invitees.
The photographers who thronged to get picture waited like hungry vultures for over seven hours. Their efforts did not fetch any results as Kumble refused to come out. Meanwhile a power failure interrupted the wedding proceeding for over two hours.
