Border villagers allege neglect

ZAFRAN DUTT
KATHUA, JULY 2: As the conflict continues at Kargil, the villagers living along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jammu region are apprehending a full scale war. There has been partial to complete exodus of families to safer places.

With no relief announced by the government for the migrants, the villagers complain that the ruling National Conference and other political parties are ``providing only lip service to the displaced persons''.

Sansar Chand of Lal Din village says, ``We can not send our children out due to fear of Pakistani bullets and shells nor can we keep them inside without electricity. So we are left with no option but to shift them to our relatives' homes.''

Villages like Chandra Chak, Radua, Pharpur, Pansar, Manyari, have witnessed complete migration where as 80 per cent of families have shifted from Sada Chak, Chichwal and Chilardy Mawa.

Reports of continuous firing by Pak Rangers at Khoura, Sada Chak and Dolma villages are coming in. The BSF is retaliating. When this reporter visitedLondi, Chadwal, Doma Chak, Chak Sade and Chann Mahaypur villages, the residents talked about various difficulties being faced by them.
