CHANDIGARH, July 2: The main branch of State Bank of India, Sector 17, organised a function in the branch premises today to honour some of their valued customers, those who have been patronising the branch for more than 30 to 35 years.The function was held to celebrate 44 years of existence of the SBI. The bank was set up on July 1, 1955.
Deputy General Manager V.K. Gupta explained the various schemes of the bank and thanked the clients for their kind patronage. "The State Bank of India is the only branch which is authorised to sell gold at competitive international prices," said Gupta.
Gupta also assured that the branch will be fully computerised shortly so as to render prompt, efficient and personalised services. He claimed that the bank has always been in the forefront in undertaking community service activities, such as organising blood donation camps, tree plantation drives, painting competition and rendering assistance to the needy.
The branch also distributed fruits and articles of daily use to the inmates of Mother Teresa orphanage, in Sector 23.
It was on this day, July 2, that the Chandigarh circle of the State Bank of India was established.
