Tata, CRMD draw goalless
Tata Electric and Central Railway Mumbai Division played an insipid goalless draw in the Mumbai District Football Association's Harwood League football match at the St Xavier's Ground, Parel today.
Both teams rarely looked like scoring and the only point of interest for the few gathered was the red card to CRMD's Thomas Castilinov in the dying minutes of the game.
If any, Tata's A Fernandes made a difference to the game, threatening with a move but never realising one that could go all the way. He was denied by Javed Sayed in the 15th minute, his exhibition in dribblingended with team-mate A Mendon wasting in the 20th, and a farsighted forward pass too fast for N Telgu two minutes later.
A few moments later, Mendon's free-kick forced goalkeeper Michael Quardos to stretch fully before tipping over. That was the action in the first-half, mostly in the CRMD half.
CRMD made amends after the breather with a few mild efforts, like Denzil Menezes, who should have scored off Misquitta Fernandes' forward pass in the 37th but decided to pass into no man's land.
