Jeev scores 66NEW DELHI: Jeev Milkha Singh shot a superb five-under 66 to be tied for second place at the end of the opening round of the 1.4 million Euros Murphy Irish Open European PGA golf tournament, held 10 miles off Dublin, according to reports reaching here.
Jeev shot one eagle and four birdies besides a bogey which put him a stroke behind the leader, Craig Hainline of the United States, who returned a bogey-free card of 65.
India A's WI tour
MUMBAI: An India A team's tour of the West Indies, lasting 34 days, has been scheduled during the coming season in November-December. The squad would play two four-day `tests' against the host A team before the two sides clash in a three-match one-day series.

CHENNAI: Defending champion Chetan Anand (AI) led the seeded players' progress into the second round in the junior boys event in the Ninth Krishna Khaitan Memorial All India Grand Prix badminton tournament.
Anand beat Leo Nirlum (Bhutan) 15-1, 15-1 whilethird seed Arup Baidya (Rlys) outplayed B Vikas Reddy (AP) 15-2, 15-1. Second seed A Prithvi tamed qualifier Pankaj Naik (Goa) 15-10, 17-14.
Pat for Baskaran
CHENNAI: Indian Hockey Federation president KPS Gill today gave `full credit' to Vasudevan Baskaran's capabilities as hockey (senior) coach, saying Baskaran would bring success for the Indian team in its coming tours.Gill said: ``We will not have any problems. Some players whom Baskaran had complained against are not there anymore."
