It's very clear that it is a blatant aggression. It is an invasion of our country. But my question is how could it happen? Your home is attacked only when there is no guard. It is very clear that the guards were sleeping. If you have demarcated a line, how could somebody cross it? Didn't the Indian Army know? I don't think that's possible. I've seen Kargil from the top while shooting at Leh. It is a sensitive spot, and there is no chance that it could have been so thoroughly infiltrated without the knowledge of the Indian Army.
I think what we need is a strong leadership which can unite the entire sub-continent and make it one. Where is that leadership? With whatever goes on in the Parliament, I don't know how that will ever happen, unless someone stands up and takes charge. The Britishers were the only ones who could manage to integrate India. No one before them and no one after they left has succeeded to that degree.
What have we done to ourselves after they left? Which way are we headed? I would liketo ask the same question to Pakistan. And I would also like to pose a similar question to the every right-thinking Indian: who should think and attempt to solve the problem?
Today, Kargil is a battle ground for heroes. It need not have been.(As told to Ruchi Sharma)
