Commuters held for beating cops

MUMBAI, JULY 4: Six commuters were arrested on Saturday on for beating three railway constables in a Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus-bound local train. The accused Ashwin Shan, Bababjit Chheda, Jagdish Joshi, Jagdipbhai Damodia, and two more were playing cards on a local train from Mulund to CST when three railway police constables, Sanjiv Pawar, More, and R P Jadhav, accosted them near Kurla and told them that it was a crime to play cards under Section 145 (c) of the Railway Act.

A fracas soon followed, and the accused overpowered the cops and beat them up. However, at Masjid station, some members of the public took both the parties to the police station, which followed the arrests ofthe six.
