iploma courses at SNDT

The SNDT Women's University's Department of Continuing Adult Education and Extension Work is offering diplomas from July 1999: Post-graduate Diploma in Travel and Tourism (for graduates), diploma in interior decoration (tenth pass), diploma in textile designing (tenth pass), diploma in classical music, folk music and performing music, retail management etc. The courses are also open to men. Training courses for women

WIMA (The Association of Women Entrepreneurs/Industrialist of Maharashtra) has organised training courses for women on July 17 between 12 noon and 6 pm at Om Siddharth Hall, Gokul Monark, Thakur Complex, Kandivli (East) to train women in starting their own businesses at home with minimum investment. The workshop will impart guidance on manufacturing scented agarbattis, spray bottles, wax candles, writing chalk,phenyl, liquid detergents, herbal items etc. For further details, call Ms Padate on 8852994 (between 4 and 8 pm) or Asha Savant on 3060522.

Diploma in human rights

The University of Mumbai's Department of Civics and Politics has commenced admissions to its recently introduced Post Graduate Diploma in Human Rights. The course consists of three papers: (1) Evolution, Theory and Philosophy of Human Rights (2) Human Rights in the Indian Context (3) and Human Rights - The Global Context and a dissertation based on field work. Admissions to this course are open to graduates of any faculty. Lectures will be held on weekends at Fort. Course in public speakingA ten session course on ``The fascinating world of public speaking'' will be held once a week from 12 July from 6 pm to 7.30 pm. For further details, call on 2821047.
